BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Athena Kazos turned in a six kill, five dig and three block performance but it was not enough as the Sarah Lawrence College volleyball team fell at home to Farmingdale State College 3-0.
Kazos tallied six of the Gryphons' 13 kills in three sets as she also led the team in hitting percentage with a .158 going 6-3-19.
SLC (11-13, 4-3 Skyline) dropped to a tie for fifth in the Skyline Conference standings with the 25-20, 25-14, 25-18 loss to a very hot Farmingdale State (11-7, 8-1 Skyline) squad that has now won 10 match in-a-row and is tied with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for first place in the conference.
The Gryphons had a strong showing in the first set despite losing is 25-20. Down 16-12, SLC used a 4-1 run to cut it to 17-16 in favor of the visiting Rams.
SLC and FSC would trade points over the next eight serves as neither team could take control until the Rams were leading 21-20 and scored the set's final four points.
The Gryphons did all they could and fought hard in the second and third sets, but FSC was just too much on the night.
Mia Rector had another double-figure assist performance with 11 and
Skyler Kawecki-Muonio led SLC in digs with nine.

The Gryphons will close out the week with a Friday afternoon affair on Long Island when they travel to Throggs Neck to take on Maritime College at 4 p.m. EDT.
