Box Score 3 THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball team reigned supreme in a dominating 3-0 victory over Maritime College on Friday evening at Maritime's Riesenberg Gym thanks in large part to 18 service aces.
SLC (12-13, 5-3 Skyline) cruised to a 25-13, 25-20, 25-8 straight set sweep as the Gryphons hit at a .278 clip (36-11-90) while holding the Privateers to a .080 percentage (22-15-87).
Maritime (2-14,1-8 Skyline) has now lost 12 matches in-a-row overall and eight consecutive losses inside the Skyline Conference.
The first set was all SLC as the Gryphons built a hefty 16-5 lead thanks to fantastic play by all including three kills by Kaille Ferguson.
Maritime went on a 4-0 run but a Privateer service error and back-to-back service aces from SLC's Mia Rector all but ended any hope of a comeback as the Gryphons closed out the set with a 8-3 run.
The second stanza was more of battle as neither team could gain complete control until SLC turned a 16-16 time into a 25-20 set victory thanks to the play of Athena Kazos who had two kills and two aces during a 9-4 run to close out the set.
The third set was all Gryphons thanks to massive scoring runs 9-1 and 9-3 with the highlight of the set being Ferguson's back-to-back-to-back kills to put SLC up 17-4.
Ferguson ended the night with a match-high 11 kills as well as seven digs, four assists and two aces.
Kazos was stellar on the attack at the net and on the service line as she tallied eight kills and a career-best six service aces to go along with six digs.
Skyler Kawecki-Muonio and Mia Rector were just as lethal on the service line as each added five aces apiece. Kawecki-Muonioled everyone in digs with 16 and Rector recorded 25 assists.

The Gryphons will have the weekend off after their trip to New London, Conn., for the Connecticut College Tri-Match was cancelled. SLC will now set its sights on a home contest on Tuesday, Oct. 25, with Manhattanville College. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. as the Gryphons look to even its overall record.
