COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - In the final game of the Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Colorado College the Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team was narrowly defeated by Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves in overtime by a score of 69-66.

How it Happened
As the score and overtime period indicated, the game was full of back-and-forths, with six separate tied scores and five lead changes. The first quarter saw the Gryphons jump out to a lead briefly before Nebraska Wesleyan would take an early advantage and carry that into the half thanks to eight points from Sarah Hultquist. Throughout the second quarter, the Gryphons were able to close the gap, thanks to a 5-0 run by Medina with under two minutes remaining to reclaim the lead and give Sarah Lawrence a 31-28 lead going into the half.

As the second half got underway, it was the Gryphons who came out ready to play, going on an 8-2 run to open the quarter and riding that momentum throughout the period to hold a 47-40 lead with one ten-minute period remaining in the contest. The fourth quarter opened very similarly to the third, as Sarah Lawrence would get off to a fast start, scoring the first eight points of the period, including two shots from behind the arc by Tamura on consecutive possessions. The Prairie Wolves would hold the Gryphons to just six points for the remaining eight minutes of the quarter and would go on to score 21 points in the quarter. Nebraska Wesleyan would take a 59-57 lead after a long scoring run with two minutes to go, but Tamura would tie the game up again to keep Sarah Lawrence in the game. After another Prairie Wolves made basket with a minute left, it was Tamura once again who would step up to keep the Gryphons alive, converting on both of her free-throw attempts to tie the game at 61 points apiece and send the game to overtime.

The overtime period was dominated early by Nebraska Wesleyan, as they scored the first seven points of the period which would prove to be too much for the Gryphons to deal with. Despite a three-pointer from Demitra Loukopoulos to narrow the lead to two points with 1 minute and 30 seconds remaining, the Prairie Wolves would hold on for the victory after keeping the Gryphons off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.
