How it Happened
The Lions took a two-point lead 18 seconds into the game and did not look back, remaining in control of the lead throughout the remainder of the game. The Gryphons only turned the ball over two more times than their opponent in the first half, but the Lions were dominant inside offensively, outscoring Sarah Lawrence 22-6 in the paint. The Lions also managed to get to the free-throw line 27 times, converting on over 85% of their attempts for an additional 23 points. Meanwhile, the Gryphons managed only seven trips to the line throughout the game and converted on three of those opportunities.

The second half saw the Lions continue to dominate offensively, with the Gryphons shooting 60% from deep but unable to close the gap, as they turned the ball over 10 times which led to 15 points for Columbia. The Gryphons did own better field goal and three-point field goal percentages than the Lions in the second half, but the additional trips to the free-throw line allowed Columbia to remain in the lead for the last 20 minutes.
