Gryphons Battle against Highly-Ranked Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team fell to Mount Saint Mary by a score of 100-54 on Wednesday evening. Demitra Loukopoulos led the Gryphons in scoring with 19 points on the evening and Kaila Dorch led the team with 11 rebounds.

  • Loukopoulos led the way offensively for Sarah Lawrence with her 19 points on 50% shooting from deep and 46.7% from the field
  • Dorch led the way in rebounding with 11 and added seven points and three steals
  • Kendall Haymore scored 12 points for the Gryphons and grabbed eight rebounds in the losing effort

How it Happened

The first quarter was a close battle, as five of Collen Coughlin's eight points kept the Gryphons close behind the Knights as the first 10 minutes of play came to a close and the score was 13-10 in favor of Mount Saint Mary. The second quarter of play saw the Knights pull ahead and extend their lead but Sarah Lawrence remained in striking distance, finding themselves trailing by 11 points with a score of 39-28 entering the half.

The second half saw the Knights pull away for good, putting up 31 and 30 points in each of the final two quarters to distance themselves from Sarah Lawrence and end the game with a 46-point margin.

The Gryphons (5-7, Skyline 3-4) will next travel to Riverdale, N.Y. to take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a game rescheduled from December 10th. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
