PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - Junior forward
Kendall Haymore scored a career-high 25 points as the Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team fell to the Saint Joseph's College of Long Island Golden Eagles by a score of 89-74 on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles are in fourth place in the Skyline conference with a 10-6 overall record and an impressive 8-3 record in conference play.
By the Numbers
- After pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds, Haymore put up her ninth double-double of the season, the seventh highest total in all of Division III
- Teammate Kaila Dorch earned a double-double of her own with 10 rebounds to go along her season-high 18 points
- Senior Jordyn Medina nearly made it three Gryphons with double-doubles as she pulled down 10 rebounds and scored eight points in the losing effort
How it Happened
The Gryphons fell behind 31-12 after a strong first quarter from the Golden Eagles in which the hosts used 12 points from Alyssa Adomaites to jump out to an early lead. The second quarter would see Sarah Lawrence answer in a similar manner, outscoring St. Joseph's 32-16 thanks to 20 points combined from Haymore and Dorch. At the half, the Golden Eagles led by just three points and with 20 minutes to play it seemed to be anyone's game.
As the third quarter started, the Gryphons fell behind once again as Adomaites scored another 12 of her game-high 33 points to extend the St. Joseph's College lead to 10 points and with one more quarter to play, the Gryphons would need to engineer another fourth-quarter comeback. Despite baskets from six different Sarah Lawrence athletes, the Gryphons were unable to make up enough ground on the Golden Eagles who would hold the lead through the final buzzer for their eighth Skyline victory of the season.
