11.4.23

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's swim team continued their impressive start to the season with their third consecutive swim meet sweep on Saturday afternoon. The Gryphons earned victories over both Mount Saint Mary College and York College, adding two more wins to their already-impressive resume.

SLC's 200 yard medley relay team kicked-off the event with a victory, as a group of first years finished with a time of 2:30.54. Sonjia Armitage, Hannah Drum, Linda Kelly and Jocelyn Engel all made up the winning relay team. In the team's first individual event sophomore Ella Hernan took home another first-place victory, pacing the field of competitors in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:13.26.

A trio of Gryphons finished in first-through-third in the 50 yard freestyle, as reigning Skyline rookie of the year Keilani Talma took home first place while the aforementioned Drum and Josie Laur rounded out the top three. Two events later it would be a duo of Gryphons to place in the top three. Senior Genevieve Chiappetta and the aforementioned Armitage took home second and third place in the 200 yard IM.

Talma earned another top finish as she won the 200 yard butterfly by over 20 seconds. Drum, Laur and Alessandra Abemayor finished second through fourth in the 100 yard freestyle just two events later, adding to SLC's already impressive meet. Hernan won another event, the 200 yard backstroke and this time Chiappetta would finish second, less than one second behind her teammate and over eight seconds faster than the third-place finisher.

First years Kelly and Engel earned top-three finishes in the 500 yard freestyle while the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Talma, Hernan, Laur and Chiappetta rounded out the meet with a dominant victory, finishing over 13 seconds before the second-place team from MSMC.
