Three 20-Point Scorers Lead SLC over Old Westbury

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team defeated the Old Westbury Panthers on Wednesday evening by a score of 84-51. The Gryphons were led by Khailand Anderson-Strawder, Kaila Dorch and Kendall Haymore with 20+ points apiece.

Top Performers
  • Anderson-Strawder had another great offensive performance for SLC, scoring 25 points and totaling three steals on the defensive end
  • Dorch scored a career-high 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Gryphons
  • Haymore totaled 20 points and 14 rebounds for Sarah Lawrence in the winning effort

How it Happened

The Gryphons got off to a strong start, scoring nine of the game's first 11 points on the back of two consecutive fastbreak layups by Anderson-Strawder. After an Old Westbury basket, the first-year from Los Angeles took a pass from Kendall Haymore and connected from deep to extend the SLC lead to eight points. The LA native would score six more times in the quarter and the Gryphons would hold the Panthers to just two points in the final four minutes to take a nine point lead into the break.

The second quarter was dominated by reigning MBWA honorable mention Kendall Haymore, who scored 10 points in the period while Anderson-Strawder added two last-minute scores to end the period. The Gryphons held the Panthers to 12 points in the quarter while shooting 53% from the field.

The third quarter was Dorch's turn to lead the offensive attack, scoring eight points including a putback to start the quarter. Both teams were struggling to start the quarter, with Dorch's putback kicking off the scoring over two minutes into the period. Anderson-Strawder once again ended the quarter with two consecutive baskets, including one off a Coughlin assist with three seconds remaining.

Dorch scored eight points once again to lead the way offensively for SLC, but this time the Gryphons got contributions from across the court. The Gryphons maintained their lead for the entirety of the quarter, holding the Panthers to nine points and using two late Gladys Pierre layups to secure the victory for SLC.
