FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence Gryphons had eight players score on Wednesday night, including a game-high 18 points from both
Colleen Coughlin and
Kendall Haymore as they would defeat the Old Westbury Panthers by a score of 83-51. The Gryphons defeated the Panthers for their fourth Skyline victory of the season and their sixth victory overall.
By the Numbers
- Coughlin scored 18 points for the Gryphons and added seven rebounds, five assists and three steals
- Haymore also tallied 18 points while pulling down 13 rebound
- Senior Demitra Loukopoulos scored 15 points for Sarah Lawrence
- Kumi Tamura scored 12 points, tallied four steals and passed out three assists
How it Happened
The Panthers grabbed a 1-0 lead to start the game, but a
Colleen Coughlin layup just over a minute into the game would give the Gryphons a 2-1 lead and would keep the the lead on the side of Sarah Lawrence for the remainder of the game. Coughlin would go on to score nine more points in the first quarter of play to help the Gryphons jump out to an early 28-14 lead. Loukopoulos followed up Coughlin's amazing first quarter with an eight-point quarter of her own that helped Sarah Lawrence amount a 51-24 lead at halftime
The Gryphons would still win a much slower third quarter, which saw both teams combine for 21 points, the Gryphons coming out on top by a 12-9 tally and taking a 40-point lead into the final quarter. Haymore would be the Gryphon to step up in the fourth quarter, scoring eight of her 18 points to secure the victory.

The Gryphons (6-12, Skyline 4-9) will return to Bronxville to host Yeshiva on Saturday February 4th with tip-off scheduled for 8:30 p.m. The Gryphons will look to build off their victory against the Panthers as they are fighting for a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament.
