BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - After a hard fought opening match, the Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team fell to 0-1 on the season after a loss to Yeshiva University at the USTA Center in Flushing, N.Y.
The Gryphons were able to win the second singles match as
Clayton Miller defeated Yeshiva's Wli Hanuka in straight sets by scores of 6-0 and 6-0. The Gryphons nearly claimed the first set as
Simon Kopecky and Yeshiva's Kobi Clement battled to a tie before Cement won the tie breaker 10-7. Kopecky's strong top-spin forehands would not be enough to claim victory in the tiebreaker despite an impressive effort for the sophomore from Waterbury, Conn.
The pair of Miller and Kopecky narrowly fell to Yeshiva's top doubles team by a score of 8-5 before the final two Sarah Lawrence doubles teams were shut out in their first appearances this season.
