Game Recap: Softball |

Pechefsky strikes out Eight against Bulldogs

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence softball team fell to the Brooklyn College in both ends of the doubleheader by scores of 7-0 and 11-0. The Gryphons gave up just one earned run in the first game after Shirin Pechefsky's seven strikeout performance in game one.

By the Numbers
  • Pechefsky turned in another solid start in game one, striking out seven and forcing seven fly outs
  • Kristin Vargas and Anna Brand totaled one hit apiece in game one

How it Happened

The Bulldogs took control of game one early, scoring twice in the second inning and again in the third. The Gryphons would be unable to put anything together offensively and the Bulldogs would keep the pressure on, scoring two runs each in the fifth and six innings, most notably on a solo home run by Isabelle Frank.

Game two saw the Gryphons once again fall behind early in the game, this time the Bulldogs scored two in the first and added three more in the third, highlighted by a Melanie Millan home run. The Gryphons would not find any momentum offensively, failing to put up a hit despite three Gryphons reaching via walks.

Up Next

The Gryphons (2-10, Skyline 2-6) will return to action on Sunday as they travel to Purchase, N.Y. to take on the Manhattanville Valiants who sit atop the Skyline standings with an unblemished conference record.
