Haymore and Anderson-Strawder Lead Second-Half Surge against Rams

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team fell to Farmingdale State on Tuesday night by a score of 62-75 despite a combined 43 points from Kendall Haymore and Khailand Anderson-Strawder. The Gryphons split the season series with the Rams as they had bested Farmingdale at their own gym in December.

Top Performers
  • Haymore returned to the lineup for the first time in over a month with a 26-point and 11-rebound performance on 67% shooting
  • Anderson-Strawder totaled 17 points and pulled down five rebounds for SLC
  • Ariana Spanopoulos scored seven points, pulled down seven rebounds and tallied two blocks for the Gryphons

How it Happened

The Rams jumped ahead early, with Farmingdale's Layla Mendoza scoring 15 first-quarter points to propel the visitors to a 25-9 lead by the end of the period. The second quarter saw Haymore get involved offensively, scoring nine points to keep the Gryphons close, closing the gap to 12 points with two minutes remaining. Two Farmingdale triples in the final minute and a layup as time nearly expired gave the Rams an 18-point lead and erased all of Sarah Lawrence's momentum.

The third quarter saw Haymore continue to produce offensively and first-year Anderson-Strawder scored six of her 17 points as well, helping the Gryphons surge back, but unable to make any large runs as well-timed three-pointers from the Rams halted all of SLC's scoring runs. The fourth quarter was a similar story as Dorch, Haymore, Anderson-Strawder and Christina Reilly all scored, but the Rams had enough answers to keep the Gryphons from closing the gap. As the final buzzer sounded, the Rams emerged with a Skyline road victory and evened the season series between the two teams.

Up Next

The Gryphons (5-12, Skyline 5-7) will return to action on Tuesday, January 30th when they host St. Joseph's Brooklyn at 8:00 p.m. to cap off a basketball triple-header at the Campbell Sports Center. The Gryphons narrowly bested the Bears in their previous matchup this season.
