THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team earned a commanding 3-0 victory over Maritime College in their October 17, 2024, Skyline Conference matchup. The Gryphons won by set scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-12 to improve their conference record to 6-1.

How it Happened

In the first set, Sarah Lawrence came out strong, building an early lead and maintaining it throughout. Nikolet Vataj and the aforementioned Massey were key contributors as the Gryphons took advantage of Maritime's errors to extend their lead. Maritime tried to close the gap late, but Sarah Lawrence held firm, winning the set 25-17. The second set was more competitive, with Maritime challenging Sarah Lawrence's defense early on. However, the Gryphons managed to pull ahead midway through the set, thanks to timely kills from Kazos and solid defensive efforts from Massey. Despite Maritime's push to stay within striking distance, Sarah Lawrence took the set 25-19. The Gryphons dominated the third set, quickly jumping out to a 9-1 lead with Vataj delivering powerful kills and effective serves. Maritime struggled to find answers, and Sarah Lawrence capitalized on their momentum, using a trio of late kills by Kazos to claim set point before closing out the set 25-12 on a Massey kill and completing the sweep.
