Men's Basketball Wraps up Home Fall Slate against the Coast Guard Academy

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team wrapped up their home slate for 2024 with a 77-61 loss to the Coast Guard Academy. The Gryphons will finish out their fall schedule with a road matchup against Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, December 14th.

Notable Performers
  • Braden Burman led the team with 16 points, shooting 60% from the field and adding in three steals
  • Eamon Kelly scored 11 points for SLC, adding in three steals of his own and a pair of offensive rebounds
  • Andrew Kim scored 10 points, adding in a pair of assists for the Gryphons

How it Happened

The Gryphons got out to a strong start, leading 11-2 after seven early points from Dean Furlong. The team held the lead until 4:29 remained, using triples from Kelly, Aiden Morel and Burman to stay ahead. A run by the visiting Bears reduced the lead to one with 5:10 remaining and a long-range connection by Luke Farrell gave the visitors their first lead of the night. Seven more points by the visitors gave them a nine-point advantage and despite a pair of late free throws by Burman and a triple by Kim, the Gryphons entered the intermission trailing by five. The second half saw the hosts claw back into the game, tying the contest at 40 just over two minutes into the period. After a trip to the line for the Bears gave them a one-point advantage, a score by Burman gave the Gryphons the lead once again. A seven-point swing would give the visitors the lead once again, and this time they would hold onto the advantage through the end of the day. Late scores by Kelly, Lemar Fulmore Jr. and Mason Meyers would not be enough and the visitors would return to New London with a non-conference victory.
