Women's Basketball Wraps up 2024 with Home Conference Battle against Knights

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team wrapped up 2024 with a 40-76 loss to the Knights of Mount Saint Mary College, who currently sit at 5-1 in conference play. The Gryphons will return to action on January 7th as they travel to Purchase College for a road matchup against the Panthers.

  • Gabby Hudson led the team with 11 points, adding in six rebounds and three assists
  • Emrie Pedraza and Audrey Mattison each connected twice from deep and ended the game with eight points

How it Happened

Mount Saint Mary established control early, racing to a commanding lead in the first quarter. The Knights showcased a balanced attack, with Shannon Phelan leading the way with 14 points, including four three-pointers, while Elizabeth Lofaro added 11 points. Sarah Lawrence displayed grit, particularly in the fourth quarter, when they tallied 17 points, their highest-scoring period of the game. Emrie Pedraza's two three-pointers and Kendall Stephens' contributions off the bench provided sparks of energy. Turnovers proved costly for Sarah Lawrence, as Mount Saint Mary capitalized on 26 Gryphon giveaways to score 28 points. The Knights also dominated in second-chance opportunities, tallying 22 points compared to the Gryphons' 10.

The Gryphons (3-7, Skyline 2-4) will take a break from competitions as the school holds its winter break, returning to play on January 7th as they travel up the road for a matchup with the Panthers of Purchase College. The team will then host Farmingdale State at 4:00 p.m. on January 10th for their first home contest of 2025.
