Women's Basketball Wraps up Season Series with Knights in Newburgh

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team fell to Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, as the Knights remained near the top of the Skyline standings after earning their eighth conference win of the season. The Gryphons fell to 3-8 in Skyline contests following the loss.

How it Happened

Sarah Lawrence started the game strong defensively, with Emrie Pedraza grabbing multiple rebounds early. Despite the effort, Mount St. Mary opened a commanding lead, scoring 23 points to Sarah Lawrence's 3. Emrie Pedraza hit a jumper for the Gryphons' first points. In the second quarter, Pedraza sparked Sarah Lawrence's offense with a three-pointer and went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, accounting for half of the team's seven points in the quarter. Kendall Stephens contributed on the boards, while Sarah Lawrence's defense forced a few missed shots from the opposition.

The Gryphons' scoring picked up slightly in the third quarter, with Josie Kent and Kendall Stephens adding key buckets. Kent also showed hustle, securing offensive rebounds. Pedraza hit another three-pointer, helping Sarah Lawrence put up five points in the quarter. Sarah Lawrence showed resilience down the stretch, adding seven points to close out the game. Pedraza and Stephens each contributed from the field and defensive efforts continued with contributions from Ariana Spanopoulos and Grace Carter, but Mount St. Mary maintained their offensive dominance throughout the final buzzer.
