PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's swimming team completed the first of two days that mark the 2025 Skyline Conference Championships. The Gryphons finished the day with a total of 234 points, good for second place behind the ever-dominant United States Merchant Marine Academy. The team finished top-three in all three relay events and had a variety of strong individual swims, headlined by junior
Ella Hernan's dual second-place finishes.
In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of
Ella Hernan,
Kirsten Eads,
Amelie Burg, and Josie Laur secured third place with a time of 1:49.82. The 500 Yard Freestyle saw notable performances from a pair of Gryphons, with
Ava Greengrass placing seventh at 6:34.31 and
Jocelyn Engel finishing twelfth at 7:13.81. In the 200 Yard Individual Medley,
Kirsten Eads finished sixth with a time of 2:31.44, while
Mckenzie Shaffer-Kay and
Linda Kelly placed tenth and thirteenth, respectively.
Josie Laur led the team in a strong 50 Yard Freestyle event, finishing fourth with a time of 27.15, followed by
Ella Hernan in fifth (27.68), and
Amelie Burg in sixth (28.13). The 200 Yard Medley Relay team placed third, clocking 2:06.67, and their 400 Yard Medley Relay team, featuring Hernan, Eva Guarda-Vazquez, Burg, and Laur, achieved another third-place finish with a time of 4:41.53. In individual events, Hernan claimed second place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:09.75) and the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:05.80), with Eads finishing third in the same backstroke event (1:07.29).
Finally, in the 400 Yard Individual Medley, Eads secured fourth place with a time of 5:25.33, and
Sonjia Armitage finished seventh at 6:35.67.Â
Up Next
The team will return to the Purchase College Pool on Sunday, January 26th to wrap up the Skyline Championship event. The session will begin at noon and will be followed by an awards ceremony.
