1.27.25

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's swimming team secured a third-place finish after day two of the Skyline Championships, scoring at total of 330 points, just two behind second-place Mount Saint Mary College. The Gryphons had impressive swims up and down the roster, with their third top-three relay finish of the weekend rounding out the meet.

The Gryphons got a top-ten finish from Jocelyn Engel in the 1000-yard freestyle to kick off the second day of competition, before Ella Hernan and Kirsten Eads finished back-to-back in second and third place during the 200-yard backstroke, giving the Gryphons a boost and giving Hernan her third second-place finish of the meet. A trio of Gryphons also put up solid swims in the same backstroke event, with Mckenzie Shaffer-Kay, Sonjia Armitage and Linda Kelly finishing in seventh, eighth and ninth respectively. In the next women's event the Gryphons would continue to get multiple top finishes, with Amelie Burg, Josie Lau, Eva Guarda-Vazquez and Ava Greengrass all finishing top-ten in the 100-yard freestyle. Burg led the way in sixth place while Laur and Guarda-Vazquez followed the first year in that order. Greengrass then solidified the team's fourth top-ten finish just two spots behind Guarda-Vazquez. The team would then round out the meet with the aforementioned third-place relay finish, clinching a top-three spot in the meet as the team of Burg, Guarda-Vazquez, Hernan and Laur distanced themselves from fourth-place St. Joseph's Long Island by over 18 seconds and by 148 points in the final tally.
