How it Happened
The Gryphons dominated the match from the onset, taking a commanding 8-3 lead that included back-to-back service aces from
Alex Pantoliano. After a brief timeout from Purchase, Costa continued to feed the SLC hitters, Vataj,
Eve Iceton, and Richard for kills, as SLC closed out the set 25–9 behind a final putaway from
Athena Kazos. The second set saw more of the same, with Sarah Lawrence controlling tempo and extending long scoring stretches. Vataj opened the frame with a kill and ace, while Kazos tallied several kills through the middle. Richard and Iceton combined for key blocks as the Gryphons built a 15-4 advantage. Costa kept the offense rolling, assisting on kills by Kazos and
Carolyn Kelly down the stretch before Kelly sealed a 25-10 set win. The Gryphons wasted no time in the third, racing to a 10-2 lead behind Costa's serving run, which included three aces. Vataj and Kazos continued to dominate at the net, and Richard added multiple kills and aces of her own.
