BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team led the visiting Brooklyn College Bulldogs at the half by a score of 32-29, but a strong second-half from a Brooklyn team that received top-25 votes in the season-opening poll rebounded for a 77-51 victory in the contest.

How it Happened
The Gryphons remained neck-and-neck with the visitors throughout the first quarter, with the SLC first-years opening the game by scoring the team's first six points. The Bulldogs tied the game at 6-6 before a layup by Hudson gave the Gryphons a lead once again. Shortly after entering the game,
Jersana Moore scored five straight points for the Gryphons, including a three-point play that extended the team's lead to five points. Hudson and Eng-Stewart both added scores later in the quarter, but it would be a 4-0 run by the visitors that tied the game at 17 after ten minutes of play. A 5-0 run to open the second frame gave the Bulldogs a lead, erasing the SLC advantage from the middle of the first quarter. Hudson scored to end the run, before finding teammate
Kaila Dorch to close the gap to a single point. The teams would trade scores throughout the middle of the second frame, before five straight
Kendall Stephens points gave the hosts a one-point advantage. The Gryphons held the Bulldogs to just three points in the final four and a half minutes while Hudson and Theriault each added a free throw in the final minute to send the team into the break with a three-point advantage.
The second half would be a different story, as the visitors demonstrated why they were an NCAA tournament team last season, holding SLC to just six points in the third quarter while exploding for 24 points. A 15-0 run by the Bulldogs to start the set immediately dissolved the SLC lead, putting the Gryphons down by double-digits until a pair of Theriault free throws and an
Ariana Spanopoulos layup brought the lead down to eight. That was as much as the Gryphons would cut into the lead, with a late
Colleen Coughlin layup being the team's only other score as Brooklyn carried a 15-point advantage into the final quarter. The SLC seniors started off the final quarter with scores, as Dorch and Coughlin each tallied scores before Theriault netted the team's final nine points of the game to cap off an impressive debut performance.
