Women's Basketball Closes out Road Slate with Matchup against Rams

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team wrapped up their 2024-25 road schedule on Saturday, traveling to Farmingdale State College for a midday matchup with the Rams. The Gryphons fell to the Rams by a score of 74-51 as the hosts moved to 11-6 in conference play.

Notable Performers
  • Gabby Hudson led ht team with 12 points, adding seven rebounds and four assists
  • Kaila Dorch scored an efficient 11 points while pulling down a team-high eight rebounds
  • Kendall Stephens continued her second-half surge, with 10 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists

How it Happened

The Rams got ahead early, asserting themselves by taking the first six points and 12 of the first 14. Dorch scored the team's first six points before Ariana Spanopoulos and Josie Kent each found the bottom of the net, but the Rams would carry a 21-11 advantage into the second quarter. The Gryphons kicked off the second quarter with five straight points, as a pair of free throws by Stephens and a triple by Spanopoulos from Stephens cut the lead to five points. The Rams answered with five points of their own to return the lead to double-digits before first-year guard Audrey Mattison struck in response. Stephens joined her classmate, scoring on the next SLC possession to bring the lead down to six, but the Rams would once again answer. This time the hosts connected on a triple before the teams traded scores. The final 62 seconds of the half saw the Rams pull away, scoring the final 10 points of the period and taking a 19-point advantage into the intermission.

The Rams kept up the pace coming out of the half, connecting on back-to-back triples to extend the lead. Hudson got on the board with a three-point play and finished the period with eight of SLC's ten points, but the Rams would maintain their sizable lead and head into the fourth quarter 10 minutes away from their 11th Skyline victory. Stephens, Mattison, Dorch, Hudson and Spanopoulos would all score in the fourth, but the Rams would maintain a 20-point advantage and keep control of the game. A late-game three-pointer by Grace Carter would inject some life into the team, but it would not be enough as the Rams held on for the decisive victory.
