How it Happened
Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball earned a 3-1 victory over Curry at Campbell Sports Center to start the day. The Gryphons came out firing in the opening set, building an early lead behind multiple kills from Nikolet Vataj and Beck, along with strong setting from Sophia Costa, to take the frame 25-14. Curry answered back in the second set, capitalizing on SLC attack errors and timely kills to edge the Gryphons 25-20 and even the match. The third set saw SLC regain full control. Kazos and Olivia Richard powered the offense while the team forced a slew of Curry attack errors, storming to a dominant 25-10 win. The fourth set was much of the same as Costa continued to distribute effectively and Beck and Vataj slammed down key kills as SLC pulled away 25-11 to secure the match. Kazos, Beck, and Vataj were central to the Gryphons' attack as the team delivered an all-around strong performance.
The Gryphons carried their momentum into the next match, sweeping Saint Joseph (CT) 3–0 at Campbell Sports Center. In the opening set, SLC shook off an early deficit as Beck, Kazos, and Vataj took over, stringing together a run of kills to grab a 25-22 win. The second set was their most complete of the match, as Costa set the tone from the service line while Kazos and Beck dominated offensively, and SLC rolled to a 25-14 result. In the third, the Gryphons never let up. Eva Anderson provided a spark with service aces, Beck and Kazos continued to pile up kills, and the team overwhelmed Saint Joseph from start to finish en route to a 25-13 clincher. SLC's balanced offense and steady serve receive were key in closing out their second win in as many days.
