Women's Basketball Travels to Take on Skyline-Leading Valiants

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team traveled up the road on Wednesday evening for a matchup with the Skyline-leading Valiants of Manhattanville. The hosts came into the night with an unblemished conference record and remained perfect, taking down the Gryphons 80-34.

Notable Performers
  • Gabby Hudson earned a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds
  • Colleen Coughlin scored 10 points while connecting on a pair of triples
  • Darby Stayton pulled down five boards and registered a block for SLC
How it Happened

An early Coughlin triple gave the Gryphons a second-chance score, but the Valiants jumped ahead 9-3 after three minutes of play. Hudson added a score inside and a shot from the line later in the quarter, but Manhattanville managed to hold the Gryphons to just two made field goals in the first frame, carrying a 25-6 lead into the second frame. Dorch, Sarah Theriault and Coughlin all added second-quarter scores, but the hosts once again converted at a much higher rate. The Valiants totaled 21 points in the frame to carry a sizable lead into the intermission. The third quarter was SLC's strongest of the day, outscoring the hosts 11-4 until a 5-0 run by the Valiants with 38 seconds to go sent the team into the final quarter with a 31-point advantage. The final frame was all Manhattanville, connecting on over 50% of their shots from both inside and behind the arc while the Gryphons got scores at the line by Hudson and Theriault while Coughlin and Samantha Pape scored from the field.
