Softball Hosts Baruch in Non-Conference Matchup

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence softball team hosted a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24th against Baruch College. The Gryphons fell to the Bearcats by scores of 11-0 and 10-0 as the CUNYAC visitors allowed just one hit across both games while ending both via the eight-run rule.

Notable Performers
  • Caileigh Koenig threw all five innings of game one and the first of game two, striking out five and forcing ten groundouts
  • Shirin Pechefsky tossed the final four innings in game two, striking out a pair and allowing just one earned run
  • Eva Anderson had the team's lone hit on the day while Nicaia Sharp reached on a hit by pitch in game two
How it Happened

The Bearcats got ahead early in both games, with seven combined first-innings runs. The Gryphons, meanwhile did their best work at the plate in the second inning of game two, as Pechefsky walked and Anderson reached on an infield single that gave the hosts a pair of runners with two outs. An inning-ending strikeout by Baruch's Reina Castro-Johnson ended the threat and kept the Gryphons scoreless. Another Pechefsky walk in the fourth and Sharp's hit-by-pitch in the fifth were SLC's only other two baserunners as the Bearcats continued to dominate on the mound.

Up Next

The Gryphons (2-10, Skyline 2-0) will return to action on Saturday, March 28th as they take on Brooklyn College at noon and 2:00 p.m. The Gryphons will look for a pair of non-conference victories against the Bulldogs, building on last weekend's Skyline victories.
