FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team battled Pratt Institute to a 3-4 result on Wednesday night, falling to the Cannoneers despite taking the doubles point and a pair of singles wins. The Gryphons will now get a day off before returning to action on Friday against Brooklyn College.
As mentioned, the Gryphons took the doubles point, powered by wins in the top two pairings.
Clayton Miller and
Jules Voorhoeve earned a 7-5 win in the top flight while
Leon Bronshvag and
Jozef Kandrac earned a 6-2 win in the second flight.
Avery Romano-Villani and
Connor Wood fell 4-6 in the third flight, rounding out a strong doubles showing for Sarah Lawrence. In singles play, Miller dropped a first-singles matchup 1-6, 3-6 before Voorhoeve took a close 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 win in the second flight. Romano-Villani battled through a marathon matchup in third singles, winning the second-set tiebreaker 7-2 to tie the matchup before a 9-11 tiebreaker defeat gave Pratt an important singles victory.
