FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team fell on Saturday as the team wrapped up a busy week against John Jay at the USTA National Tennis Center. The Gryphons fell 2-5 despite a win at the top doubles flight, a sixth-singles win and a marathon victory at third doubles.
In doubles play, the Gryphons took a victory at the top flight thanks to a strong showing from
Jules Voorhoeve and
Leon Bronshvag, who defeated John Jay's top pair by a score of 6-4. In second doubles,
Avery Romano-Villani and
Benjamin Berkson fell 1-6 before the team forfeited third doubles. After claiming the doubles point, the Bloodhounds got revenge for the first-doubles victory with wins at the top two singles flights, first defeating Voorhoeves 7-5, 6-2 before downing Bronshvag 6-2, 6-1. Romano-Villani fought back in the third flight, rallying from a 4-6 defeat for a 6-4 second-set win and a 7-5 win to claim the victory. Berkson fell in fourth singles after a 6-0 opening-set victory before Conner Wood wrapped up singles play for SLC with a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the fifth flight. The Gryphons forfeited the sixth singles spot, as the Bloodhounds claimed a 5-2 match victory.

The Gryphons (1-4, Skyline 0-2) will return to action on Thursday, April 2nd as the team travels to Patchogue for a 4:30 p.m. matchup with St. Joseph's Long Island. The team will then host Lehman College on Friday, April 3rd in a rescheduled match from earlier in March.
