NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team defeated Albertus Magnus College 5-2 on Sunday in New Haven, rallying from an early deficit after doubles play by dominating in singles and winning for the second consecutive day.
In doubles play, Clayton Miller and Jules Voorhoeve earned the lone point for Sarah Lawrence with a narrow 7-6 win over Michael Ramsey and Eric Chamandy at No. 1. Albertus Magnus claimed the other two matchups, as Peter Keese and Zane Kindrachuk defeated Gavin Wright and Leon Bronshvag 6-2 at No. 2, and Bailey Kirwin and Ervie Terwilliger topped Avery Romano-Villani and Aidan Roney 7-5 at No. 3.
Trailing by a point after doubles play, Sarah Lawrence surged in singles. At No. 1, Miller dropped the opening set 5-7 to Chamandy but came back to win 6-4, 6-2. Voorhoeve followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Ramsey at No. 2, and Bronshvag earned a 6-3, 6-3 win against Keese at No. 3. At No. 4, Avery Romano-Villani lost the first set 3-6 to Kindrachuk before rebounding to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-3. Wright secured another point in a tightly contested marathon No. 5 match, defeating Kirwin 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. Albertus Magnus picked up its second point at No. 6, where Josh Piro beat Benjamin Berkson 6-4, 6-0, but Berkson's loss was not enough to stop Sarah Lawrence from sealing the 5-2 victory.
