BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team fell to the visiting Yeshiva Maccabees on Thursday evening, as the Maccabees took the doubles point before narrowly holding on for a 4-3 match victory.
In doubles play, Jacob Feit and Matthew Esrail set the tone with a 6–3, 6–1 win over Clayton Miller and Jules Voorhoeve at No. 1. Akiva Gelernter and Elan Goldstein followed with a three-set victory at No. 2, defeating Leon Bronshvag and Jozef Kandrac 6–4, 3–6, 6–4, while Israel Bussu and Josh Zahavi completed the sweep with a 6–2, 6–3 win over Avery Romano-Villani and Gavin Wright at No. 3.
Trailing 3–0, Sarah Lawrence fought back in singles by winning three matches. At No. 1, Miller rebounded from a first-set loss to defeat Feit in three sets, 1–6, 6–4, 6–2. Bronshvag added a straight-set victory over Gelernter at No. 3, 6–1, 6–4, and Wright earned another point with a 6–3, 6–1 win against Goldstein at No. 5. However, Yeshiva secured the overall win with three singles victories of its own. Bussu defeated Voorhoeve at No. 2 in a tight match, 7–6(5), 6–2, Aidan Stephen topped Romano-Villani 6–2, 6–1 at No. 4, and Mark Benzaquen sealed the deciding point with a 6–0, 6–3 win over Benjamin Berkson at No. 6, as Berkson fell in straight sets to clinch the 4–3 result for Yeshiva.
