PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team fell to the hosting Valiants of Manhattanville University on Tuesday, as the hosts claimed the doubles point and withstood a strong win at the top of singles for a 7-0 victory.
In doubles play, Thomas Jouanneau and Kazuma Kato set the tone with a 6–1 win over Clayton Miller and Jules Voorhoeve at No. 1. Elouan Charretteur and Derwin Guzman followed with a 6–3 victory against Leon Bronshvag and Jozef Kandrac at No. 2, while Sami Badre-Hume and Nicholas Gervasi completed the sweep with a 6–1 win over Avery Romano-Villani and Aidan Roney at No. 3.
Leading 1–0, Manhattanville secured the match in singles despite a lone point from Sarah Lawrence. At No. 1, Miller earned the team's only win, defeating Charretteur 6–2, 6–2. However, Manhattanville claimed the remaining matches in straight sets. Guzman defeated Voorhoeve 6–1, 6–4 at No. 2, and Gervasi topped Romano-Villani 6–1, 6–0 at No. 3. At No. 4, Badre-Hume overcame Bronshvag 7–5, 6–2, while Robert Zomer beat Gavin Wright 6–4, 6–1 at No. 5. John Curtin closed out the match with a 6–1, 6–3 victory over Connor Wood at No. 6, as Manhattanville secured the 6–1 overall win.
