Mikayla Cunningham was named 2017 softball MVP. She started in all 32 games and won five games in the circle, having pitched in 21 games with 11 starts. Cunningham posted the team’s best-ever earned-run average (3.30) for a pitcher with at least 50 innings pitched. She struck out season-high five opponents against Alfred State (March 14). Cunningham posted two hits and two runs batted in against Franciscan (March 16). She pitched six-inning shutout against Old Westbury (March 23), and against John Jay, she set a program record with 13 putouts (April 13). Cunningham hit twice with two runs batted in and two others scored at Yeshiva (April 23). She finished the season with program’s lowest career earned run average and walks/seven average (0.84) among pitchers with at least 100 innings.
