SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—On Saturday, Sarah Lawrence College women's cross country competed at the Saratoga Invitational, hosted by RPI. In a tough field of runners, the Gryphons came away with a 12th-place finish on the 4.9K course.
First-year runner
Mary Kauffman (Marblehead, Mass., Marblehead) led the Gryphons for the fourth straight week, breaking the 20-minute barrier with a run of 19:59.5. She placed 75th overall, placing amongst the top half of the field of more than 170 runners.
Fellow rookie
Pauline Stanfiel (South Bend, Ind., John Adams) was the second-fastest Sarah Lawrence runner for the third week in a row, clocking in at 21:47.5. Sophomore
Sarah Janosky (Pittsburgh, Pa., Pittsburgh CAPA) followed in a time of 22:30.9, while classmate
Elizabeth Emery (Mexico, N.Y., Mexico) kept pace with a mark of 22:32.2.
Emelyn Hicks rounded out the Gryphons' scoring runners with a time of 24:16.1 in only her second collegiate race.
Katie Zimmerman (Maplewood, N.J., Columbia) crossed the line next with a mark of 24:52.9.
Junior
Eliza Myers (Brookline, Mass., Brookline) stopped the clock at 28:08.2, while
Maria Snellings (Washington, D.C./Edmund Burke School) rounded out the Gryphons in a time of 31:03.7, running in her second collegiate race.
Sarah Lawrence has just two races remaining in the season. The Gryphons will compete at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday as the final tune up before the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Championship on October 21.
