BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Sarah Lawrence College women's cross country continued its season by competing at the LIU Post Invitational on Saturday.
Mary Kauffman (Marblehead, Mass., Marblehead) led the Gryphons to a 15th-place finish in a field of teams from NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III.
Kauffman placed 30th in the field of nearly 200 runners, besting even many Division I runners with her time of 20:36.7 on the 5 km course. The first-year runner established herself early among the front wave of runners to post the fasted 5 km race time in program history.
Sophomore
Sarah Janosky (Pittsburgh, Pa., Pittsburgh CAPA) was the next Gryphon across the line with her superb time of 24:03.0. First-year runner
Pauline Stanfiel (South Bend, Ind., John Adams) slipped in a few places behind at 24:06.5, more than a minute and a half faster than her previous week's mark.
Sophomore
Elizabeth Emery (Mexico, N.Y., Mexico) clocked in at 24:27.1, while
Alyssa Sprague (Mexico, N.Y., Mexico) rounded out the team's scoring runners at 25:02.9. Both showed major improvements over their performance in the team's first outing a week prior.
The Gryphons were also represented by
Taylor Zansberg (Scotch Plains, N.J., Solomes Schechler Day),
Eliza Myers (Brookline, Mass., Brookline),
Brielle Weber (Lexington Park, Md., St. Mary's Ryhon) and
Britney Debnam (Lake Oswego, Ore., Lake Oswego).
Sarah Lawrence hits the trail again next weekend with a trip to the Bard College Invitational on Sat., Sept. 22.
