Pair of Gryphons Named to All-HVIAC Team

NEW YORK—On Tuesday, the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) announced the 14 women named to the 2013 All-HVIAC Women's Cross Country Team, recognizing outstanding performances throughout the past season. Among the recipients, Sarah Lawrence College sophomore Mary Kauffman and first-year runner Natalie Grieco were honored.

For the second time in as many years, Kauffman placed second overall at the conference championship meet. Her time of 18:37 on the 5K course broke her own program record at the distance. Kauffman was SLC's team leader at every race this season, and her efforts yielded three HVIAC Runner of the Week selections. Her selection to the 2013 squad follows a selection to the 2012 All-HVWAC Cross Country Team.

Grieco joined Kauffman as an HVIAC medalist in 2013. In the league championship race, the rookie crossed the line in a personal-best 20:53 for eighth place overall. The performance marked Grieco's fourth race as the Gryphons' No. 2 runner. Backed by their top two runners, the Green and White placed fourth at the HVIAC Championship. Previously, Grieco collected accolades as a two-time HVIAC Rookie of the Week honoree.
