NEW YORK—Four Sarah Lawrence College student-athletes were among those honored as Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Honor Roll student-athletes for the week ending Oct. 6, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Rodrigo Cuenca (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) • Men's Soccer
In SLC's 4-1 win over St. Joseph's, Cuenca put the first goal on the scoreboard with a well-placed free kick that found the bottom left corner of the net. The lead was extended late in the first half, when Cuenca helped to feed a chain-reaction pass through the middle for the eventual game-winning goal. Cuenca scored the final goal of the day, capitalizing on a corner-kick opportunity by dribbling into the 6-yard box and pounding a shot just inside the left post for his third goal of the season.
Kaylen Dornan (San Diego, Calif./High Tech High International) • Women's Soccer
Dornan made SLC history in Wednesday's game against St. Joseph's Brooklyn. In the 56th minute, Dornan netted a 30-yard free kick to notch the program's first game-winning goal. Dornan had three shots in the game, two on goal.
Caleb Jaster (New Hampton, N.H./Sant Bani) • Men's Cross Country
Jaster paced the Gryphons at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational, finishing in the top half of the 126-man field with a time of 34:13 for 62nd place.
Janet Tonyan (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) • Women's Volleyball
Setter Tonyan anchored the Gryphons defense talling 28 digs (3.11 per set) over three matches. In a league match vs. New Rochelle, the freshman setter earned her second double-double of the year with 16 assists and 12 digs.
