ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's cross country continued the 2014 season at the Bard College Invitational on Saturday.
On the "8K" course, all five Gryphons set new personal bests. For the third straight week, rookie
Daniel Higinbotham (Alpharetta, Ga./Homeschooled) was SLC's first runner across the line. In a field of more than 175 runners, he finished 38th in a time of 28:07.
Sophomore
Pat Newsom (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) was SLC's next runner across the line nearly a minute later. His effort of 29:06 was good for 64th place. Classmate
Jacob Zhu (Shanghai, China/Shanghai Jianping) stepped up to finish as the No. 3 runner on the team, stopping the clock in 34:02.
Sophomore
Justin Heftel (Spokane, Wash./Saint George's School) took three minutes off his time from two weeks ago, finishing the course in 34:38. Rookie
Jules Christeson (San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco Waldorf) was nearly eight minutes than his collegiate debut race, rounding out the Gryphons in 34:55.
The Gryphons placed 17th of 20 teams, defeating squads from Hudson Valley CC, Vaughn College and Berkeley College.
Sarah Lawrence heads to the College of Staten Island Developmental Meet on Sunday, Sept. 28.
