Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y.—In the Gryphons' penultimate game of 2015, Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer was nipped, 1-0, in an overtime non-conference game against York College (N.Y.) at Aviator Sports Complex on Saturday.

FIRST HALFMaking her first start of the season, sophomore
Emily Benjamin (Dayton, Ohio/Beavercreek) recorded the first shot of the game—and her first of the season—in the seventh minute. After the Gryphon offense was whistled for offsides in the 10th minute, the Green and White were held without a shot for the rest of the half. On defense, SLC successfully withstood a pair of shots and three corner kicks, preserving the shutout at halftime.
SECOND HALFSLC's offense woke up in the second period, and the Gryphons notched three shots and two corner kicks in the first 10 minutes of the half. Sarah Lawrence totaled nine shots and nine corners over the 45 minutes. Rookie
Shira Ungar (Bethesda, Md./Charles E. Smith Jewish Day) led the way with three shots, putting all of them on-goal. Classmate
Nora Burrows (Titusville, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) had two shots on-goal, and junior
Shannon Sullivan (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett Regional) put a pair on-target.
Julia Fisher (New Orleans, La./Benjamin Franklin) and
Tori Davis (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) also tallied a shot in the half. Despite the flurry of action, York keeper Sarah Hilaire kept the ball out of the net with eight saves, and the teams went to overtime, tied 0-0.
OVERTIMESophomore
Clara Ezcurra (Hurlingham, Argentina/St. Hilda's College) fired the first shot of extra time, but Hilaire again made a critical save. Sullivan also had a shot, but her effort sailed high of the crossbar. With the Cardinals' fourth shot of the game, York's Jennifer Durazno broke the tie and clinched the game for the home team.
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence concludes its campaign on Sunday. The Gryphons return to Aviator Sports Complex for a showdown against Skyline foe Yeshiva University. SLC is 2-0 all-time against the Maccabees, who are seeking their first win in their first season in the league.
