Shira Ungar (Bethesda, Md./Charles E. Smith Jewish Day) hit the post in the 30th minute, and
Shannon Sullivan (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett Regional) and Ungar put two more shots on target. YU keeper Annie Jaffe made four saves in the period, preserving the 0-0 deadlock at halftime.
YESHIVA MAKES ITS MOVEUngar, Burrows and Sullivan all tallied shots in the second half, but only one was accurate enough to need to be stopped by Jaffe. In a span of 10 minutes, from the 63rd minute to the 73rd, Yeshiva put away three goals to ice the game. Merav Saden Barach scored the first goal and rebounded her own penalty kick to score the second. Jennifer Shamsian also scored her first goal of the season.
ROSENBERG SETS RECORDSIn goal for the Gryphons, junior
Addie Rosenberg (New York, N.Y./Fusion Academy) made four saves in the game, bringing her season total to an SLC-record 144 stops for the season. She brought her career total to a program-best 320 saves and a career-record nine wins.
IN THE RECORD BOOKFor the season, the Gryphons averaged 8.8 shots per game, more than a shot and a half better than the previous season. SLC's four wins are also a program-best in the three-year history of the varsity program.
Individually, Burrows set an SLC record for goals (four) and points (11) in a season. Burrows, along with sophomore
Luana DeBorst (Santo Domingo, Costa Rica/European School of Costa Rica), each had three assists, matching the SLC record.
DeBorst took over two SLC career records with five assists and 15 points. DeBorst and Sullivan each have a share of the SLC career record of five goals. Sullivan has played for 3,505 minutes over 40 games in her career, more field time than any other Gryphon.
