BREASTSTROKE RECORDDay two featured a record-breaking swim by Gryphon
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School). The sophomore broke her own SLC record with her second-place swim in the 200 yard breaststroke, clocking in at 2:28.89.
INDIVIDUAL SCORINGIn the day's first event, junior
Gabby Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) earned fifth place in the 100 yard freestyle. Her time of 1:00.68 marked a new season best. Sophomore
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) earned eighth place with a career best of 1:02.28.
Four Gryphons placed in the 200 yard backstroke. Rookie
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) led the team with a runner-up and career-best effort of 2:15.70. Kroll swam her second career-best time of the day, 2:28.33, for fifth place. Senior
Sam Amberchan (Alameda, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) followed closely in 2:29.80, setting a new career best. Risica rounded out the Green and White in ninth place with a season debut mark of 2:32.60.
Behind Lawson's second place in the 200 breaststroke, sophomore
Rachel Barkowitz (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) swam a career-best 3:01.55, good for fifth place. Junior
Sky Mihaylo (Albany, Ore./West Albany) picked up a team point for 12th place, swimming a career best 3:21.69.
In her final individual swim of the meet, Peal swam to third place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:37.26. Sophomore
Sarah Schnapp (Taiwan/Tzu Chi) placed ninth in the event, touching the wall in 6:26.92.
Amberchan swam her final individual event in Skyline Championship action, earning eighth place in the 100 butterfly (1:09.04).
Lawson scored the final solo points for the Gryphons, taking third place in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:27.17.
GRYPHON RELAYNeeding a win to bump the team to second place in the team scoring, the SLC 400 freestyle relay came up just short. Lawson, Peal, Kroll and Risica combined for a time of 3:56.06.
CAREER MARKSJunior captain
Lydia Mullan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) had two career-best swims, posting a time of 1:17.07 in the 100 butterfly, and a 200 I.M. mark of 2:49.71. Rookie
Kiki Michaan (New York, N.Y./Saint Ann's School) improved her 100 freestyle career best to 1:21.37, and made her 200 breaststroke debut in 4:20.10. Schnapp swam a career-best in the 100 butterfly (1:16.56).
FULL STANDINGSMount Saint Mary College won its fifth-straight title after scoring 466 points. Purchase College took runner-up honors with 281 points, while SLC trailed with 269 points. St. Joseph's College L.I. scored 142 points to edge Maritime College (132 points). St. Joseph's College Brooklyn (78 points), College of Mount Saint Vincent (57) and SUNY College at Old Westbury (23) rounded out the field.
