SMITHTOWN, N.Y.—In the Gryphons' final regular-season race, Sarah Lawrence College men's cross country placed 13th at the 17th Annual St. Joseph's College Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday.

TOP GRYPHONS
Sophomore Zack Roccaforte (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Academy) narrowly slipped inside the top 50, clocking in at 30:33 on the 8K course. He extended his streak to six straight races as the team's top runner, and the performance on the redesigned course is the team's best-ever at Sunken Meadow Park. Senior Pat Newsom (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) crossed the line four seconds behind in 30:37 for 51st place overall, a full minute faster than his previous run at the venue.

Rookie Nathaniel Gabor (Amherst, Mass./Amherst-Pelham Regional) held his place as the No. 3 Gryphon for the third-straight race. He clocked in at 34:24 to place 104th. Junior Daniel Higinbotham (Alpharetta, Ga./Homeschooled) reached the finish in 35:00 for 110th, and rookie Bill Chang (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge) placed 138th after narrowly missing the 40-minute mark in 40:08.

With the regular-season completed, Sarah Lawrence has two weeks to prepare for the Skyline Championships on October 30 at Broadway Avenue Park in Sayville, N.Y. The Gryphons then conclude their season at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Championships on November 12.
