SMITHTOWN, N.Y.—Two Gryphons placed among the top 50, as Sarah Lawrence College women's cross country earned sixth place at the 17th Annual St. Joseph's College Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday.

TOP GRYPHONS
Sophomore
Rosa Mykyta-Chomsky (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School) returned to form as the Gryphons' top runner, placing 27th with a time of 21:56 on the 5K course. The performance on the redesigned course is the team's best-ever at Sunken Meadow Park. Junior
Tiffany Meier (Goleta, Calif./Olive Grove Charter) climbed into the team's No. 2 spot, reaching the finish in 22:44 for 41st place overall. Senior
Allyson Panton (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) placed as the No. 3 Gryphon for the first time since the season opener; her time of 23:17 was just outside the top 50 in 53rd place. Junior
Katie Shepard (Visalia, Calif./Mount Whitney) was within a minute of her season-best 5K time, crossing the line in 23:45 for 61st place. The Gryphons scorers were rounded out by rookie
Mei Takehana (Tokyo, Japan/Perkiomen School), who placed among the team's top five for the first time, taking 72nd place in 24:16.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Sophomore
Katherine Labadie (New Orleans, La./Benjamin Franklin) broke into the top half of the field with her 75th-place effort of 24:23. Rookie
Natalie Wyse (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) moved up four positions in the Gryphons lineup to be the team's No. 7 runner in 29:03, good for 129th overall. Junior
Dani Dyen-Shapiro (Estero, Fla./Cypress Lake) bumped up to eighth on the team, taking 131st overall in 29:16. Rookie
Zhe Wu (Guangzhou, China/Nansha College Prep. Acad.) completed the squad in 31:25, crossing the line in 138th.
UP NEXT
With the regular-season completed, Sarah Lawrence has two weeks to prepare for the Skyline Championships on October 30 at Broadway Avenue Park in Sayville, N.Y. The Gryphons then conclude their season at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Championships on November 12.
