NEWARK, N.J.—Three Gryphons broke their previous collegiate 8K personal bests as Sarah Lawrence College men's cross country placed 16th in a field of 21 teams at the 2016 New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park on Saturday.

TOP GRYPHONS
Sophomore
Zack Roccaforte (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Academy) led the Gryphons across the finish line for the fifth-straight race, finishing the 8K course in 29:11. His effort surpassed his previous collegiate best by nine seconds, earning 52nd place. Senior
Pat Newsom (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) broke the 30-minute mark for the first time this season, taking 64th place in 29:49. Rookie
Nathaniel Gabor (Amherst, Mass./Amherst-Pelham Regional) placed as the No. 3 Gryphon for the second week, earning 120th place with a collegiate personal best of 33:01.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Junior
Daniel Higinbotham (Alpharetta, Ga./Homeschooled) was the Gryphons' No. 4 runner, earning 133rd place after crossing the line in 34:19. Rookie
Bill Chang (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge) rounded out the team and took nearly two minutes off his previous best, placing 162nd in 38:06.
