BRONX, N.Y.—Ten Gryphons ran personal collegiate bests as Sarah Lawrence College women's cross captured second place at the 2016 York Invitational at Van Courtlandt Park on Sunday. The runner-up finish matches the Gryphons' best invitational placing in recent history, following a second-place at the Baruch Invitational on Sept. 4, also ran at Van Courtlandt.

TOP GRYPHONS
Rosa Mykyta-Chomsky (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School) posted her third top-10 finish of the season, capturing ninth place among the field of 167 student-athletes. The sophomore Gryphon bettered her 6K personal best by nearly two minutes. The second Gryphon across the line, sophomore
Molly Walsh (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) improved upon her season debut by a full minute, posting a mark of 27:15 to earn 14th overall. Sophomore
Isabel Edmonds (Appleton, Wisc./Appleton North) also crossed the line among the top 25, setting a new personal best of 28:22, 26 seconds faster than her best time last season.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Five other Gryphons finished in the top half of the field. Junior
Katie Shepard (Visalia, Calif./Mount Whitney) improved upon her personal best by 18 seconds, crossing the line in 27th place with a time of 28:38. Junior
Tiffany Meier (Goleta, Calif./Olive Grove Charter) had a season best, taking 35th place in 29:08, rounding out the Gryphons' scoring squad. Senior
Allyson Panton (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) was among the Gryphons who ran a personal best, as she crossed the line in 29:06 for 36th. Sophomore
Katherine Labadie (New Orleans, La./Benjamin Franklin) nearly broke the 30-minute barrier but was 22 seconds better than her previous 6K best with her 50th-place run of 30:01. Rookie
Mei Takehana (Tokyo, Japan/Perkiomen School) returned from a three-week absence to earn 56th in a personal-best 30:23.
PERSONAL BESTS
Four other Gryphons posted career bests at the 6K distance. Rookie
Natalie Wyse (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) earned 98th place with a time of 34:02. In 110th place, junior
Dani Dyen-Shapiro (Estero, Fla./Cypress Lake) crossed the line in 35:30. Rookie
Zhe Wu (Guangzhou, China/Nansha College Prep. Acad.) placed 126th with a mark of 37:18, and rookie
Brooke Remsen (Rye, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) placed 128th after a run of 37:38.
