Softball Drops Two Games in Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Sarah Lawrence softball team suffered a pair of losses Monday, falling to Sewanee in the opening game, 6-0, followed by a 12-3 loss to Maine Presque-Isle in the nightcap.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Sarah Lawrence finished with just nine hits on the day, highlighted by first-years Tiffany McBrayer and Bailey Nguyen, who finished with two hits apiece. Peyton Kullander notched her first collegiate hit against Sewanee.

Sewanee scored one run in the opening frame, taking advantage of a Gryphons' miscue. The Tigers plated two more runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth en route to their first victory of the year.

Sarah Lawrence had opportunities to score but were unable to convert, leaving four runners on base.

Maine Presque-Isle 12, Sarah Lawrence 3
The Gryphons got off to a strong start, scoring two runs in the first inning. Baylie Petit drove in two runs with a two-out single to right field.

Maine Presque-Isle, winners of 25 games a season ago, countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and proceeded to score five runs in the second and four more in the third to open up a 12-2 lead. The Gryphons added one more run in the fourth frame, when Mackenzie Mindish singled to center field to
score Skyler Vallarta.
