Gryphons Cruise to 16-3 Win Over St. Louis Pharmacy

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Sarah Lawrence softball team scored 16 runs Tuesday to defeat St. Louis College of Pharmacy at North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. It's the Gryphons' first-ever win over a NAIA program.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
The Gryphons offense was clicking on all cylinders, manufacturing 18 hits, including three apiece from Hannah Akin, Tess Carrier and Mikayla Cunningham. All three went 3-for-5 (.600) with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Mackenzie Mindish, Peyton Kullander each produced two hits, while Tiffany McBrayer and Baylie Petit each scored two runs.

McBrayer also recorded a hit, extending her hitting streak to five games, while Petit and Bailey Nguyen extended their streak to three.

Karissa McAuley improved to 2-0 in the circle on the season. The hurler went the distance, allowing three runs on eight hits. All three runs came in the final half inning of play.

Sarah Lawrence plated five runs in the second inning, fueled by RBI singles from Cunningham, McBrayer and Delaney Parker. Mindish was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to bring in another run.

The Gryphons rounded the bases 11 more times in the sixth inning, highlighted by RBIs from McAuley, Petit, Carrier, Cunningham, McBrayer, Akin, Skyler Vallarta, Mindish, Carrier and Kullander.

Sarah Lawrence returns to the field Wednesday with a pair of games. The Gryphons will take on Principia for a second time at 9:30 a.m., followed by Southern Vermont at 11:30 a.m.
