NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Sarah Lawrence softball team had a strong showing Wednesday, earning victories over Principia and Southern Vermont at North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. After a 1-3 start, the Gryphons have strung together three consecutive victories to move above .500.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Hannah Akin had a strong day at the plate, hitting .625 (5-for-8) with two RBIs and four runs scored.
Mikayla Cunningham went 3-for-5 (.600) with three runs while
Karissa McAuley batted .571 (4-for-7) with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Tess Carrier finished with three hits and one run, while
Tiffany McBrayer recorded three hits, extending her hitting streak to seven games.
Mackenzie Mindish and
Zoe Kim each finished with three RBIs on the day while
Rebecca Roberts scored two runs.
Bailey Nguyen made her first collegiate start in the circle for the Gryphons and was masterful. The first-year went the distance, tossing a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts.
Delaney Parker picked up her first victory of the year in the circle against Southern Vermont. The sophomore pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.

Sarah Lawrence 10, Principia 0 (5 Innings)
Sarah Lawrence, coming off a 16-3 win over St. Louis Pharmacy on Tuesday, got off to a fast start, scoring two runs in the opening frame thanks to a two-run single to right field from Mindish. The Gryphons added another run in the second inning, thanks to a RBI double from McBrayer to score Cunningham.
The Gryphons' bats were red-hot in the fourth, as Sarah Lawrence plated seven runs. Akin and McAuley drove in two runs apiece, followed by RBI base hits from Mindish and Carrier. Carrier later rounded the bases on a fielding error.
Sarah Lawrence 8, Southern Vermont 2
Southern Vermont plated two runs in the first inning. The Gryphons countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame, fueled by RBI doubles from McAuley and Nguyen.
Sarah Lawrence broke the game open with four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Kim's three-run inside the park homer. Later in the inning, Carrier singled up the middle to drive in another score.
The Gryphons rounded the bases twice more in the sixth, keyed by RBIs from McBrayer and McAuley.
