PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence softball team split a Skyline doubleheader with Purchase Thursday at Purchase Softball Field.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Tiffany McBrayer had a strong day at the plate, batting .833 (5-for-6) with two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored.
McBrayer was one of five Gryphons with multi-hits, as 
Peyton Kullander, 
Hannah Akin, 
Mikayla Cunningham and 
Karissa McAuley posted two hits apiece.
Akin finished with three RBIs, while Kullander produced two. Cunningham, McAuley and 
Zoe Kim each drove in a run on the day. 
Mackenzie Mindish finished with three runs scored.

The Gryphons, the home team, scored one run in each of the first two innings. Akin drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, while Cunningham scored a runner on a groundout in the second.
Purchase plated two runs in the fifth inning to tie the game, but Kim drove in the go-ahead score in the bottom of the frame for a 3-2 lead. Sarah Lawrence added insurance in the sixth with a two-run single from Kullander.
McAuley earned her third victory of the season in the circle. The junior pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Purchase 8, Sarah Lawrence 4
Sarah Lawrence took a 1-0 lead in the third inning following a RBI single from Akin.
The Panthers answered with four runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth to open up an 8-1 advantage. The Gryphons got two runs back in the fifth, thanks to RBIs from Akin and McAuley. Sarah Lawrence scored again in the sixth inning following a double from McBrayer, but were unable to complete the rally, settling for a series split.
Despite taking the loss, rookie 
Bailey Nguyen recorded 11 strikeouts, tying teammate McAuley for the most strikeouts in a single game. She has combined to strike out 20 batters in her last two pitching outings.
