DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence softball team earned its first-ever victory over Mount Saint Vincent Sunday in a series split at Mercy College. The Gryphons dropped the first game, 4-0, and bounced back for an 8-1 win in the nightcap.

McBrayer drove in three runs, while Cunningham drove in two. Ngyuen, Carrier and
Mackenzie Mindish also recorded a RBI on the day. Nguyen, Kullander, Carrier, Kim and Mindish all rounded the bases for Sarah Lawrence.

The Dolphins, coming off a split over defending league champion Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, scored in each of the first three innings. Mount Saint Vincent scored one run in the opening frame, two in the second inning and one more in the third.
Sarah Lawrence, coming off a seven-day layoff, had opportunities but were unable to convert, leaving 10 runners on base.

Sarah Lawrence took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, thanks to a two-out single from Cunningham to score Nguyen. The Gryphons added another run in the third inning on a single from Nguyen, and took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning following a groundout RBI from McBrayer.
Mount Saint Vincent got a run back in the sixth inning, but the Gryphons countered with five in the seventh. All five runs came with two outs on the field. Carrier, Mindish, Kullander, Cunningham and McBrayer all drove in a run in the frame.
Nguyen earned her fourth victory of the year in the circle. The rookie tossed all 7.0 innings, limiting the Dolphins to one run on nine hits.
The victory over Mount Saint Vincent snapped a 27-game losing streak against the Dolphins.
