MILTON, N.Y. – Will Tway completed the 8-kilometer course at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in a time of 33:19.4 to pace the Sarah Lawrence men's cross country team to a seventh place finish at the 14
th Annual MSMC Knight Invite on Saturday morning.
Tway, a graduate of Kentucky Country Day School in Louisville, Ky., finished in 40
th place overall and earned the Gryphons 27 points in the process.
Miles Bakshi and
Henrik Nielson were neck-and-neck down as they approached the finish line with Bakshi finishing the race in a time of 34:29.5 while Nielson was less than a stride behind at 34:30.1. Bakshi's time earned himself a 48
th place finish with Nielson earning 49
th place out of the 89 competitors that completed the course.
Lucas Murray (37:52.2 – 62
nd) and
Nathan Williams-Gelobter (45:27.7 – 78
th) finished the SLC competitors that scored points for the team side of the event.
Desmond Luck (50:02.3 - 82
nd) was the final member of the Gryphons runners to cross the finish line.
Isaac Clark of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy took first place honors with a blistering time of 26:45.0, which was over 25 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. USMMA took home the team event by three points over SUNY Cobleskill.
Quinn Van Buren and
Mira Franzen completed the 6K women's event for SLC with Van Buren hustling the way to a 19
th place finish in a time of 29:58.6 and Franzen coming in 41
st with a time of 35:32.8.
NEXT UP
The Gryphons will close out their regular season events on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they travel to Kings Park, N.Y., to compete in the SJNY Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's – Long Island. The runners will toe the line at 11 a.m. at the Sunken Meadow Park.
