NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference announced its 14 Scholar-Athletes of the Year from this past winter and spring seasons on Monday afternoon.
Simi Rao,
Nate Davis, and
Drew Lei-Alerta were honored with the award for their respective sports.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented in each sport to the first-team All-Skyline performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.
Simi Rao - Women's Tennis
The Skyline Rookie of the Year won the deciding singles match in the conference semifinals against Purchase. She went 6-3 overall in singles, including a 4-2 conference mark and a perfect 3-0 record at No. 1.
Nate Davis - Men's Volleyball
Davis ended the 2022 season as the Division III leader in kills per set, points per set, and attacks per set. The outside hitter set the Division III all-time record for kills in a four-set match, going for 40 in a 3-1 win against St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on March 10. The award marked the second consecutive Scholar Athlete of the Year honor for the rising junior.
Drew Lei-Alerta - Women's Swimming
Lei-Alerta won the100-yard butterfly (59.86) at Skyline Championships, setting a meet record in the event. She also added a second in the 100 free and as part of the 200 Medley Relay team. This month, she was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
