Women's Tennis Takes Second at Conference Championships

Bronxville, NY - November 15, 2011

Following an unexpected weather delay that came in the form of an October blizzard, the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Tennis Championships took place this Saturday, November 12, at the Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.

Sarah Lawrence took second place with a final score of 20 points following match play, besting New Rochelle (7 points), St. Joseph's (4) and Vaughn (0). Pratt edged out the Gryphons by three points, winning the tournament overall.

   The Gryphons won four flights with Jane Lowe (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) besting  Sophie Frost of Pratt to take the top spot in Singles #5 Seed, Katie Voss (San Rafael, Calif./West Salem (Ore.)) besting Pratt's Laurel Ames to take Singles #6 Seed, and Doubles Partners Gwen Adorno / Antonia Verdi (Annapolis, Md./Key School) and Jane Lowe (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) / Katie Voss (San Rafael, Calif./West Salem (Ore.)) winning Doubles #1 and #3 Seed respectively.

Following their strong performances at the tournament and impressive play season-long, Lowe and Verdi were named to the All-Conference Team.
